Verdem

July 3, 2017

Today let’s talk about a store named Verdem. What is this store you may ask?

Verdem is a celebration of all that is beautiful about you. They have brought together a collection of skin care, make up and fragrances that, with every application, will love your skin so you will love the skin you’re in.

The Verdem logo, the swan, represents magestic elegance and the supreme perfection of natural beauty. At Verdém, from the selection of our products to the advice and care they offer, they embrace this idea. Even the location in the beautifully restored Queen Victoria Building, George St, Sydney reflects the elegance and sophistication of their clientele.

I took some time to interview the owner of Verdem, the one and only, Magen. Below is our 7 minutes with Magen.

Q: What made you start Verdem?
Magen: Treating skin has been something I have done for many years. I’ve worked with many different brands and understanding the client’s needs is the most important thing to me. This was when I decided to open up my own shop to answer some of the needs of the clients. With Verdem I was able to focus on collecting the best products from around the world which are able to address many clients’ needs.

Q: What makes Verdem different?
Magen: Verdem has a very different concept to other stores. Everything that we do during a facial treatment here is able to be taken home and done by the client themselves. The handmade facials use no devices and only use natural solutions. All products sold in the stores are paragon free and not tested on animals. Everything is gentle on the skin.

Q: What is your favourite product our of the whole store?
Magen: The Venofye drone bee range.

Q: Do you find that you are beginning to educate a lot of young men about skincare?
Magen: Yes, having them try the product definitely helps them to understand the importance of skincare. Men aged 25-40years use Verdem products.

Q: What challenges have you faced since opening Verdem?
Magen: The main problem is when you get people who are uneducated about skincare. These people tend to buy luxury products in department stores purely because of a brand name but don’t understand the quality of what goes into certain products.

Q: What are the next steps for you and for Verdem?
Magen: We are still building the concept of Verdem and improving materials such as explanations and booklets. We aim expand in a couple of years and have better facial services and unique treatments.

Q: Have all the products in store been personally tested by you?
Magen: Yes, we have a close knit of 10 skincare experts and all products are personally tested by us before accepted and put onto our shelves.

Well there you have it! 7 minutes with Magen of Verdem.

I hope you enjoyed reading about Verdem and our time with Magen.

Amazing Store!! Love the packaging of Verdem products, they look so luxury!! How great is it to be able to take all those facial treatment products home and do it ourselves? saves us time to travel to the facial salon and probably saves money too!!! I definitely need to check out their store when i’m in town next time.

7 very valuable minutes at that as I think it’s lovely a company like Verdem actually realizes there’s a huge demand for skincare products for men in the specific age group mentioned (I’m right in there, but I’m an exception as I’m into them anyway). I’m noticing how “the everyday man” more and more craves products that are made for them and are picky about what products they use so these handmade are a great way to introduce men to the wonderful world of skincare. Thanks for sharing this brand with us, Mandy!

    Dear Mandy,
It was so awesome to see this post about Verdem today as I was actually thinking about maybe trying one of the common brands of masks available. It’s so wonderful that these are formulated so naturally and without any devices. I definitely would love to try Verdem. Thank you so much!
    Yours truly,

What an awesome store! I love the Q &A and would totally go there with an open mind. It’s so true. A lot of people including myself just buy things because they’re name brand and aren’t educated on skincare but it sounds like they would be willing to let you know the benefits of using their product. I’ll have to check them out

Ohhh, I love anything skincare and I totally agree that it’s not necessarily the price that you pay that makes products good for you. I love that Verdem creates skincare that you can take home and apply on a daily basis yourself without having to go to a spa or treatment. The packaging of these products are also so clean and minimal and I love the luxe look of them. This is a great quick Q&A but really learned a lot about the brand and their products. Thanks for the introduction. xoxo, Christine

This store sounds amazing! I love that all of the products used during their treatments can be taken home! I have spent so much on products that are “name brand,” only for them to not work for me, or make me break out! I also love that these are luxurious, but affordable.

    Thank you!

It’s not easy at all to build and establish a beauty brand and it seems like Verdem did such a spectacular job! I truly enjoyed reading your interview and look forward to further explore the brand! Thanks so much for the inspiration! Have a lovely day! Xoxo

Verdem is such a lovely store and I loved learning about the products. The swan logo is so elegant, sophisticated and well thought out. I adore that. And I agree with everything Magen said about educating women about skincare products. Women buy expensive brands without actually knowing what’s in them and go to get expensive treatments but can’t repeat the procedures at home. That’s why we need stores like Verdem. I need to bookmark this page and check out the place when I visit Sydney!

Loved getting an insight into the business and like that the team is so close knit. I agree that a lot of the time people invest in skincare brands that have no backing in their technology and rely solely on their brand and their packaging.

Can’t wait to try their products!

What a great interview Mandy, you did a great job for such a short period of time. I’ve never heard about this brand! It looks very interesting, it’s nice to see that they have makeup as well. I would love to try their eye cream! I hope they ship to Serbia.

Verdem sounds like the thing that we exactly need in today’s society. I was guilty of purchasing high end brands at department stores just because of the name, but I had no idea what I was putting onto my skin. Recently, I started paying more attention to the ingredients list rather than the brand name. There are so many toxic ingredients that the beauty industry tries to mask and it’s kind of scary. I really enjoyed reading this interview and I hope I find something like this in the U.S.!

    xoxo,

    Maggie S.
