Hipster coffee places, colourful beaches, trending brunch stops and tempting desserts pretty much sum up my weekend away in Melbourne. My weekend in Melbourne was truly a memorable one thanks to Accor Hotels who invited us to experience the MGallery by Sofitel hotels in Melbourne.
MGallery by Sofitel is comprised of a collection of captivating boutique hotels that exude luxury, charisma and a profoundly local character. In addition to offering impeccable service, five-star facilities and captivating designs, each hotel offers guests the opportunity to experience a ‘Memorable Moment’ curated by the staff themselves.
Memorable Moments take many forms at MGallery by Sofitel, however remain deeply rooted in the local landscape, culture and hotel character. Your moment could be something as intimate as a beachside candlelit dinner, or as grandiose as a helicopter ride to survey a local landmark. In any case, the experience is likely to be one of the most defining of your stay.
Our weekend started on Friday night when we flew out of town and arrived to the beautiful city of Melbourne. Our first stop was South Yarra and our destination was no other than The Como Hotel, MGallery by Sofitel. We had never stayed in the South Yarra area before so just to give you a guide the distance from Tullamarine airport to The Como Hotel is about 32km and a taxi ride will cost approximately $70AUD (roughly).
The Como Hotel is a stylish boutique hotel located in the heart of South Yarra fashion district. This elegant hotel hosts 111 amazing rooms and extravagant suites. I was extremely excited to be visiting The Como Hotel because they are well known for their impeccable service.
We arrived and checked in to the hotel at approximately 9pm and the staff took us to our Open Plan Japanese Garden Suite which looked absolutely amazing. You can tell this is an amazing hotel that really lived up to the expectations because the staff really went above and beyond to assist us with all of our requests. Entering the room was also a pleasant surprise as we were treated to a chilled Chandon alongside a personalised note with some very delicious desserts.
Shortly after treating ourselves to the nice dessert I explored the hotel and stumbled upon the spectacular pool and sun deck area. As it was night time I spent a bit of time at the pool but wanted to come back in the morning to see the sun deck area a bit better.
As it was getting quite late I decided to indulge myself in a nice relaxing bubble bath. The hotel provided some amazing bath products such as Appelles Apothecary & Lab Vitamin B3 Body Buff and Vitamin B3 Bath Caviar. Needless to say I had an amazing sleep that night and the morning breakfast at The Brasserie restaurant located at the lobby was also quite a delicious experience.
As we were in Melbourne for a little getaway to celebrate our anniversary I was in a very pretty Alana Aoun gown. After checking out at the lobby we decided to visit the sun deck area at the top level and walked around the gardens. This was truly a beautiful garden sight.
Unfortunately we were only staying for one night and we were definitely sad to leave this hotel. The staff here definitely exceeded our expectations in every sense and I’d highly recommend you to stay at The Como Hotel in South Yarra if you’re looking to stay somewhere away from the CBD. Their service will not disappoint!
Before leaving South Yarra I suggest you to visit Luxbite which is a quick walk away from your hotel. Trust me on this, if you love sweets you’ll love their cute tasty macarons and sweet cakes. I made sure I bought some to take home to Sydney because our next stop was Hotel Lindrum, MGallery by Sofitel. This is located in the heart of Melbourne CBD.
Hotel Lindrum is a unique 59 room boutique hotel that combines modern design with the ultimate in contemporary facilities and personalised service. It has incorporated aspects of its heritage in present day operations. The billiard room in the lobby features one of the original billiard tables from the building days as Lindrum’s Billiard Centre. It is also conveniently only a small walk away from major attractions, well-known restaurants and tourist attractions.
We arrived to check in to Hotel Lindrum at about 2pm and this was definitely one of the more interesting hotel lobbies I have been to. Hotel Lindrum boasts an amazing billiard table and a pretty cool lounge bar area where you can play chess. The hotel is only a couple of floors so you can opt to take the elevator or the stairs.
One of the first things I noticed walking into my room is the beautiful arches of the windows in our room. It was also a pleasant surprise to see some cute dessert treats that were awaiting us in our room. We didn’t wait long before we dug into them and they were absolutely delicious! We also noticed Hotel Lindrum also used Appelles products which we already loved.
After a short indulgence we got ready for our night out. Tonight we were going to dine at Chin Chin, a well known South East Asian Cuisine Restaurant in Melbourne. I had been here 3 years ago but I was definitely keen to have another meal there. It’s also conveniently only a short 5 minute walk away from Hotel Lindrum. Before we headed to dinner we thought we should play a game since our hotel had a nice billiard table at the lobby.
After our quick game downstairs we headed straight to Chin Chin. Tonight I wore a dress by Florentina and I’m ready to have some fun! The food at Chin Chin definitely did not disappoint! I highly recommend you to get to Chin Chin by around 5pm or 5.30pm because the lines can get a little crazy from 6.30pm onwards (the wait can sometimes be 1-2hours!). After dinner we explored the city and I did some shopping at LV (new shoes YAY!) before heading for some cute animal lattes at The Dessert Kitchen located in Chinatown! Highly recommend this for anyone who loves cute looking drinks. I’m actually super thrilled because we did not have this in Sydney but I heard they will be opening a Sydney branch soon! In the morning we decided that we would like to have breakfast in our room.
I actually have heard amazing things about the Felt restaurant so I had high expectations for the food. This was indeed an incredible breakfast that met all those expectations. My favourite was the crunchy kale salad. It was refreshing and I definitely crave it now as I write this!
This sums up my incredible weekend in Melbourne staying at two amazing MGallery by Sofitel hotels. A big thank you to Accor Hotels, The Como Hotel, Hotel Lindrum and last but not least the amazing staff for hosting our stays over the weekend. It was truly a memorable moment. Have you ever stayed at any Accor Hotels before? Would love to hear about your experience.
