Memorable Moments at MGallery by Sofitel

April 15, 2017

Hipster coffee places, colourful beaches, trending brunch stops and tempting desserts pretty much sum up my weekend away in Melbourne. My weekend in Melbourne was truly a memorable one thanks to Accor Hotels who invited us to experience the MGallery by Sofitel hotels in Melbourne.
MGallery by Sofitel is comprised of a collection of captivating boutique hotels that exude luxury, charisma and a profoundly local character. In addition to offering impeccable service, five-star facilities and captivating designs, each hotel offers guests the opportunity to experience a ‘Memorable Moment’ curated by the staff themselves.

Memorable Moments take many forms at MGallery by Sofitel, however remain deeply rooted in the local landscape, culture and hotel character. Your moment could be something as intimate as a beachside candlelit dinner, or as grandiose as a helicopter ride to survey a local landmark. In any case, the experience is likely to be one of the most defining of your stay.

Our weekend started on Friday night when we flew out of town and arrived to the beautiful city of Melbourne. Our first stop was South Yarra and our destination was no other than The Como HotelMGallery by Sofitel. We had never stayed in the South Yarra area before so just to give you a guide the distance from Tullamarine airport to The Como Hotel is about 32km and a taxi ride will cost approximately $70AUD (roughly).

The Como Hotel is a stylish boutique hotel located in the heart of South Yarra fashion district. This elegant hotel hosts 111 amazing rooms and extravagant suites. I was extremely excited to be visiting The Como Hotel because they are well known for their impeccable service.

We arrived and checked in to the hotel at approximately 9pm and the staff took us to our Open Plan Japanese Garden Suite which looked absolutely amazing. You can tell this is an amazing hotel that really lived up to the expectations because the staff really went above and beyond to assist us with all of our requests. Entering the room was also a pleasant surprise as we were treated to a chilled Chandon alongside a personalised note with some very delicious desserts.

Shortly after treating ourselves to the nice dessert I explored the hotel and stumbled upon the spectacular pool and sun deck area. As it was night time I spent a bit of time at the pool but wanted to come back in the morning to see the sun deck area a bit better.

As it was getting quite late I decided to indulge myself in a nice relaxing bubble bath. The hotel provided some amazing bath products such as Appelles Apothecary & Lab Vitamin B3 Body Buff and Vitamin B3 Bath Caviar. Needless to say I had an amazing sleep that night and the morning breakfast at The Brasserie restaurant located at the lobby was also quite a delicious experience.

As we were in Melbourne for a little getaway to celebrate our anniversary I was in a very pretty Alana Aoun gown. After checking out at the lobby we decided to visit the sun deck area at the top level and walked around the gardens. This was truly a beautiful garden sight.

Unfortunately we were only staying for one night and we were definitely sad to leave this hotel. The staff here definitely exceeded our expectations in every sense and I’d highly recommend you to stay at The Como Hotel in South Yarra if you’re looking to stay somewhere away from the CBD. Their service will not disappoint!

Before leaving South Yarra I suggest you to visit Luxbite which is a quick walk away from your hotel. Trust me on this, if you love sweets you’ll love their cute tasty macarons and sweet cakes. I made sure I bought some to take home to Sydney because our next stop was Hotel LindrumMGallery by Sofitel. This is located in the heart of Melbourne CBD.

Hotel Lindrum is a unique 59 room boutique hotel that combines modern design with the ultimate in contemporary facilities and personalised service. It has incorporated aspects of its heritage in present day operations. The billiard room in the lobby features one of the original billiard tables from the building days as Lindrum’s Billiard Centre. It is also conveniently only a small walk away from major attractions, well-known restaurants and tourist attractions.

We arrived to check in to Hotel Lindrum at about 2pm and this was definitely one of the more interesting hotel lobbies I have been to. Hotel Lindrum boasts an amazing billiard table and a pretty cool lounge bar area where you can play chess. The hotel is only a couple of floors so you can opt to take the elevator or the stairs.

One of the first things I noticed walking into my room is the beautiful arches of the windows in our room. It was also a pleasant surprise to see some cute dessert treats that were awaiting us in our room. We didn’t wait long before we dug into them and they were absolutely delicious! We also noticed Hotel Lindrum also used Appelles products which we already loved.

After a short indulgence we got ready for our night out. Tonight we were going to dine at Chin Chin, a well known South East Asian Cuisine Restaurant in Melbourne. I had been here 3 years ago but I was definitely keen to have another meal there. It’s also conveniently only a short 5 minute walk away from Hotel Lindrum. Before we headed to dinner we thought we should play a game since our hotel had a nice billiard table at the lobby.

After our quick game downstairs we headed straight to Chin Chin. Tonight I wore a dress by Florentina and I’m ready to have some fun! The food at Chin Chin definitely did not disappoint! I highly recommend you to get to Chin Chin by around 5pm or 5.30pm because the lines can get a little crazy from 6.30pm onwards (the wait can sometimes be 1-2hours!). After dinner we explored the city and I did some shopping at LV (new shoes YAY!) before heading for some cute animal lattes at The Dessert Kitchen located in Chinatown! Highly recommend this for anyone who loves cute looking drinks. I’m actually super thrilled because we did not have this in Sydney but I heard they will be opening a Sydney branch soon! In the morning we decided that we would like to have breakfast in our room.

I actually have heard amazing things about the Felt restaurant so I had high expectations for the food. This was indeed an incredible breakfast that met all those expectations. My favourite was the crunchy kale salad. It was refreshing and I definitely crave it now as I write this!

This sums up my incredible weekend in Melbourne staying at two amazing MGallery by Sofitel hotels. A big thank you to Accor HotelsThe Como HotelHotel Lindrum and last but not least the amazing staff for hosting our stays over the weekend. It was truly a memorable moment. Have you ever stayed at any Accor Hotels before? Would love to hear about your experience.

Wow, both of these hotels by Accor sound unbelievable! I love the luxury of the Como Hotel and the fact that you can have a memorable experience is so fabulous. I haven’t heard of that service before so what a unique feature! The service sounds top notch and the rooms and amenities look incredible. And what a treat you got to go to another Accor hotel at Hotel Lindrum. This hotel seems more urban and hip, a different vibe than Como Hotel, but equally impressive and fabulous. I love the community feel with the billiard table too. I am such a dessert person and those sweet treats look so yummy! Sounds like an amazing experience to stay at both of these hotels. I definitely have to look into Accor properties here in the States and stay in one after seeing this review and photos! xoxo, Christine

I am sure you had a relaxing stay with all the amazing service and that bath ! Jealous 🙂
How spoiled are you to experience another Accor hotel. Hotel Lindrum looks edgy and contemporary. The food looks so yummy in all of your pictures. How can you play pool wearing heels?:) Can’t wait to see your new LV shoes by the way. I am glad you had a fabulous gateway and enjoyed your stay in both of the hotels. If I ever go to Australia (which is on my bucket list) I will definitely check them both.

First of all congratulations on your anniversary! From the pictures it seems like you guys had a wonderful getaway! All your hotel stays look so chic and beautiful. I have stayed in a lot Accor properties (mostly Sofitel) in Asia and Europe. They truly do have great service and I have always had an exceptional stay with them. The camo hotel looks so modern and clean. Loved how you started with a bottle of Chandon. That shows the quality of the hotel. I also loved the pool and your suite. Lindrum hotel seems more cozy and cute. I am going to look into these Accor propeties when I am Melbourne next time! Thank you for sharing these reviews! xo shalini

I believe that first hotel sounds perfect for romantic dates and I hope you truly enjoyed your anniversary there, as for second place, I liked that it suits more for business meetings and probably great destination for people who is looking to relax after a long day. I love that you prepared your cute outfits to shoot in hotels! My favorite is a gown!

    Happy anniversary!
What a wonderfully way to spend it.
Looks like you checked out the best of Melbourne in both hotels and dining.
Hotel lindrum is very famous in Melbourne well known for its history and amazing architecture.
I love Appelles products too they smell amazing.
Your gown was truly special and I’m glad you got to check out some of Melbourne’s desserts as we really do have some creative chefs.
I haven’t stayed at either Accor hotels, but I’ve certainly heard of them and after seeing both The Como hotel and Hotel Lindrum in all its splendor in your pictures I must check them out.

  • Lisa mao April 18, 2017 at 1:34 AM

Oh Mandy your stay sounds incredible!
You are absolutely right about their reputation for having impeccable service because it really does show in how well they accommodated to you and any of your requests.
You know I love a hotel that’s got their bathing priority on top and with labels like Appelles apothecary, you KNOW it’s luxurious.
Hotel Lindrum definitely exudes a different more old rustic style of luxury and comfort.
Also there’s a Dessert Kitchen where I live too!! Don’t you just love their Asian styled goodies?!
Btw the Alana aloun gown was beautiful, you looked like you were going to get married hehe, but where are the photos of your new LV shoes ?! Must show me !!

  • Maryam April 18, 2017 at 6:43 AM

Congratulations on your anniversary and what a great way to celebrate. This sounds like a luxurious getaway and perfect for the occasion. I’ve never stayed at any of the Sofitel locations but there’s one close to me in Beverly Hills and I’ve been there a few times for events. The experience has always been exceptional. BTW, your gown is beautiful, you look like an angel in it 🙂

Wow girl! First of all, you look stunning! These photos are amazing!
What a great concept Accor hotels has, they truly seem to be creating memorable moments! It’s all about the little details. Too bad you only stayed at Sofitel for one night, because that pool looks amazing!
Nevertheless, the second hotel looks amazing as well (Of course because it’s a part of the Accor fam).. Hotel Lindrum’s rooms are very very pretty!
Also, drooling over the food! OMG!
I’ve never stayed at any of the Accor Hotels group before, but now I’d love to for sure! They look amazing and offer a great experience! Thanks for sharing babe
PS: Congrats on your anniversary babe! 🙂

What an unbelievable way to spend your anniversary! And on that note, happy anniversary of course! 🙂 I have never stayed any Accor properties, but after reading this post I know I will make sure to look at their MGallery properties first. The Como Hotel looked beautiful, and I’m so impressed with their level of service and attention to detail. Not only was your suite beautiful but that bubble bath looked divine. I was even more impressed with your experience at the Hotel Lindrum as I love the minimalist yet lofty architecture. The hotel’s interior design team truly excelled on that front. The breakfast looked absolutely exquisite as well. What an amazing experience! You post has set a high bar, and I look forward to the day I may be able to experience all of this myself 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing!

P.S. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention your gorgeous gowns! Absolutely stunning!

The Como Hotel looks so luxurious! The sparkling wine, delicious desserts and that bubble bath – oh my! That is absolutely divine. I could imagine how relaxed you were after that. And all those dishes at the Felt restaurant look so incredibly beautiful! By the way, the kale salad looks fab indeed! I really liked all those three places, but the first hotel, in my opinion, was the best one! And I love all the lovely photos you have taken! <3

    Cheers, Eliza |

  • Katya | Style Sprinter April 19, 2017 at 1:29 PM

OMG Mandy!! You look so stunning in this white feather decorated dress! Like a real princess! I also love your more casual look in a photo where you are enjoying your breakfast (that breakfast, though, it looks so yummy!) I’ve never been to Australia, but Sofitel seems like the right place to pick while traveling there. I really love the room design and how the outside of the hotel looks like. It’s such a luxurious looking place and I wish I’d be able to check it out one day! Meanwhile, NYC based Sofitel is adorable too!

  • Jacqueline April 19, 2017 at 1:47 PM

Wow this experience sounds so amazing. From the food, to the customer service to the rooms and decor. I’ve never stayed in a Sofitel hotel before but I’ve been to the one in LA which also has a brunch place you can go to. This looks far more sophisticated than that. Every single hotel was so unique and vibrant. The perfect little getaway.

  • Sarah Atiq April 19, 2017 at 2:09 PM

Happy Anniversary Mandy!! You are looking absolutely gorgeous in these photos and I am totally in love with your Alana Aoun gown. Your weekend getaway in Melbourne sounds like the perfect way to celebrate your anniversary. I really love that both of the Accor hotels truly created memorable moments for you. I am honestly so tired of the bigger chains. Reading your post was so refreshing, because the hotels personalised an experience for you. Not only does their service sounds impeccable but the rooms and amenities look amazing. My favourite moment from your stay at the Como Hotel, has to be that luxurious bath, it looks so tempting. And the view from Hotel Lindrum, it beautiful, such an amazing breakfast experience. I will definitely have a look at Accor properties in Asia, I cant wait to have a similar experience when I travel next :).

  • Sheree April 19, 2017 at 5:41 PM

Happy Anniversary Mandy and what a great way to celebrate by having not just one but two amazing hotel stays. Both of the Accor hotels looked amazing and each have their own unique styles. While large luxury hotel chains are top notch in standard services, I’m a fan of boutique hotels because they really have an interesting character and put lots of attention to design details. Looks like you got a really great pampering treatment at Sofitel, and I love the welcome touches. Btw, all of your gowns look amazing and stunning!!! Glad you have a perfect anniversary weekend.

I have never been to Melbourne. But I would like to go, Beautiful hotels I love both.Your dresses are awesome love the long gown of them. You organized very well this trip from Hotels to lunch .

  • Thomas Falkenstedt April 20, 2017 at 7:32 AM

First of all, a belated, but yet loving congratulation on your anniversary, Mandy! I really can’t think of a better way than a getaway to celebrate that and to top it off with two world class boutique hotels, both exquisite, but different in style. I love glamour as much as any boy and The Como Hotel provided an abundance of that and then some, but there is something about The Lindrum Hotel that really appealed to me. Maybe it was the minimalistic Scandinavian decor blended with some edgy rustic feeling that had me hooked. Or maybe it was the view from your room. I also enjoyed reading about your tips regarding where to eat in Melbourne, a city I yearn to visit someday and when I do, I know where to stay!

  • Andreea Birsan April 20, 2017 at 7:56 AM

Both hotels sound and look fantastic! I was amazed by the memorable moments service offered at the MGallery by Sofitel. Who can say no to those options? I’d never refuse a helicopter ride or dinning by the sea :). And almost forgot to congratulate you on the anniversary! You looked charming, just like a diva! Besides suiting you like a glove, those dresses also reminded me of what Hollywood stars are wearing on the red carpet! Now I can’t wait to see your new LV shoes. xx

  • Elif Kadioglu April 20, 2017 at 8:47 AM

Happy Anniversary Mandy! Both hotels look amazing! I’ve never stayed at any of the Accor Hotels group before, sure will add to my places to visit. You look super cute. xoxo Elif

Happy Anniversary to you! It looks like you had a fantastic trip. I visited Melbourne once years ago and it is such a cool city! Would love to stay at one of these MGallery by Sofitel hotels if I ever visit again. I love how both of them have such different vibes and yet leave such a distinct impression of impeccable service! Plus they totally SPOIL you with dessert in your room upon arrival! The food alone looks like it’s worth staying there for. I also just love it when a hotel has great bath products!! I always pack my own just in case but it’s always a pleasant surprise when I don’t have to use my own toiletries. That bath looks too good!
